Below, you will find personal accounts of individuals who lived or experienced Synanon. Most individuals recall the experience as a positive one. Each page is a new story. "Chuck Dederich was a hugely talented salesman, vision-painter, marketing man and myth-maker. He made prayers without God, patched together "philosophy" from the remnants of transcendentalism and pop psychology; he created a myth of sacrifice for his people ... He was Jesus and Moses leading "his people" to a promised land all over again. Except this time the story was happening right here and now, not some 2,500 years ago. Every girl could be a redeemed Mary Magdalene, every boy could be Peter or John the Baptist" (page 8).
